Pilates
Pilates differs from yoga in that the focus is primarily on core strength. It is excellent for anyone with a weak or injured back. It will also appeal to people who are drawn specifically to the exercise aspect of yoga, rather than relaxation, meditation or breath work.
Core strength is crucial for posture and prevention of back pain. It is also the key to injury prevention in fast-paced, multi-directional sports and as such is being adopted as part of fitness training for football and rugby teams. Pilates is also an excellent way to recover tummy and pelvic floor strength after pregnancy.
